Mini Bar at home - How to make one for Indian homes - Part 3

We wanted to add a couple of accessories which would go into your mini bar. To start with we talk about the “Jigger”.

jigger

Simply put, Jigger is a measuring device which is used to pour alcohol or other liquids in proper proportion while mixing cocktail drinks. The image shown above is what is very common. It has two parts. The one at the bottom is used to dispense 30ml or 3cl of liquid (also known as “small”) and the one on top is used to dispense 60ml or 6cl of liquid (also known as “large”).

Generally cocktails consist of one or two alcoholic beverages with fruit juices, spices, fruit bits, ice and flavouring syrups. You can check the internet for some amazing recipes for cocktails.

Some variants of a Jigger are shown below:

The next accessory is somewhat too professional in our opinion. But it can come in very handy and avoid all the mess. We are talking about the “pourer”.

These devices plug into the bottle’s mouth and provide an easy way to pour the liquid into the jigger or directly into glass. They usually fit every bottle and have a rubberised “one size fits all” kind of a design.

They can be reused for many bottles. Just make sure you wash them before plugging it into another bottle.

The last item which we would discuss in this article is the ice-crusher. With the exception of “one the rock” drinks, ice cubes are not a favorite for most drinks including cocktails. Most people do not like to see ice cubes floating in the drink. So we can use the ice crushed, reduce the surface area of the cube and use it in cocktail mixers. Some drinks like Irish Cream are actually served on crushed ice. So it is a good option to have one too.

We hope that we were able to give you some good tips to set up your mini bar.

Moulded furniture was a new concept in India when it was introduced in the mid nineties. One of the companies who pioneered the products was Nilkamal. Even today they are focusing on delivering quality products and their range is really impressive. There have been lot of clones in the moulded furniture market. We have seen that these clones are not manufactured with high quality plastics and tend to break or warp after some time.

Moulded furniture are really cost effective when compared to wood or steel. They are light in weight and the weight baring capacity is very good compared to the mass of the product. They are easy to maintain and do not exhibit problems such as rusting and also immune to termites and the like. This is probably one of the biggest advantages for the moulded furniture.

They also have some negatives. Aesthetically they are low on score. Certain furniture types are not easy to be implemented on the moulded platform. But all said and done, they really offer a lot to the consumers. Having given this brief introduction let us look at the company profile of Nilkamal.

Towel Rack for Bathroom

Many a times, we struggle to find the place to store towels in the bathroom. I have seen people throw the towel over the shower head or squeeze it into the door handle. Some people have the rods like the one shown below.

An alternate solution is to have a towel rack which also has the rod below. The rack can be used to store clean and dry towels whereas the rod below can be used to hang the towels in use. I think this is a great idea. Any comments?

Wardrobe Design from my friend’s home

This is just an image post. I liked this wardrobe a lot. It was very elegant in it’s design and also simplistic.

Wardrobe

As you can see from the image above it has 5 storage units on the top where a family can dump their sparingly used stuff.

On the bottom there are two full sized wardrobes. One could be for “his” and the other for “her”.

There is a small mirror in the center which is accompanied by a drawer to store cosmetics and another storage unit below for holding items.

One thing which could have been provided by the manufacturer is a lamp above to uniformly illuminate the person’s face who is getting dressed. But this is optional.

Also a good thing about this room was the floor. It had this wooden floor feel attached to it. It consisted of sheets of laminate glued to the the floor and was very nice to walk on. Compared to conventional tiles it was not cold at all to walk on this surface.
