The menace of summer is well on the way. People who don't have any cover over their roof top are in for trouble. There are many natural cooling techniques available which reduce power requirements on cooling. One of the most impressive of them is installing water sprinklers on the roof top which would provide for cool roofs by evaporative cooling.
It would be good if we can hear from our forum members if they have tried such systems for cooling during summer.
Also does any one know where we can get water sprinkler systems and timer devices to control them in chennai?

@ Mouli

sprinkling water is a good technique. But given the fact that water is scarce, this need not be an option for all chennai people.

I have seen some apply cow dung on top of the terrace to provide some cooling. you could also consider using special heat resistant tiles on your terrace as a one time investment.
