I have seen pictures of neat window boxes in bloom. How can we set up window boxes with the window styles of India. Can we fix slide up windows?? Is it safe. I am a keen gardener and would like to continue in my apartment. Any other ideas??

thanks for the pic!

seeing that i have some concerns,

a) standard swing doors may not work. as you rightly pointed out , you may have to go for sliding doors for your window.

b) this would work only for a ground floor house

c) it needs to be maintained well to avoid pest and insect problems. the proximity to the window means you could get some into your home.

d) based on the location of the window, the plant may receive no or excess sunlight!

I am not discouraging you or something, but i want you to think in these directions.

fenesta windows is just a brand. they give UPVC based windows as opposed to steel or wooden windows. They have both swing open and slide windows.

Did you manage to find the box which could be fitted on the window?

No I did not not. But I suppose we can fabricate them  to our requirements. About fenesta I wanted to know will they not be secure?

Security for fenesta windows is a function of the fact whether you have a grill or not. having a grill is less on aesthetics but gives you more security and vice versa....

so what have you opted for?
