yes chisha

Vitrified tiles are better than marble. They are easier to maintain, stronger and do not stain easily.

I am not sure if the cost of marble and vitrified tiles are the same. Perhaps you need to double check.

most builders these days are offering v. tiles for the flats. it gives the buyer a sense of class and a builder a chance to charge you more Smiley

did you get this information from some place, that marble costs less?

It is tough to maintain marble. also, i remember someone telling me that there are two types in marble

a) water cut
b) kerosene cut

apparently to avoid friction, water is fed into the blades while cutting marble. the problem is that water fed cutting reduces the life of the blade.

to make life easy, marble cutters use kerosene as a lubricant while cutting the marble. this is cheaper than a water cut marble.

the issue with kerosene is that it seeps into the marble and over the months, it can cause the marble surface to break or degenerate...some can see ruptures and powdery break down of marble.

so be very careful when you choose marble and buy it from reputed company/dealer

I surmised from your comment that builders can  charge you more that marble might cost less. Anyways its vitrifies tiles for us. here again I have been looking keenly at floors these days. I find many showrooms have V. tiles but not all maintain the sheen and are scratch free. Our builder says he will use RAk as its a reputed one. Lets see.

rak is very good and reputed brand. i can tell you v. tiles is a very good option. make sure you select the right color/texture.

certain colors may not point out the dirt/dust while certain will magnify them. as for the texture get a rough surface tile and not a fully smooth one. this would minimize slipping accidents in your home and also the lights will not reflect from the floor and avoid creating extra glare indoors.

I had bought Marbonite tiles from Johnson which are vitrified tiles. I bought Snow white coloured ones which are almost 90% white. After laying there was several days of work goin on inside my home for which we put plater of paris over the tiles for protection. Then we removed during the Interior carpentry fittings, painting the walls etc.,
Now eeverything is done and I shifted to new home. The tiles are no longer what i saw when they were laid. They are muddy soiled colours from snow white. Not liking them at all. Dont know what went wrong, but its for all of the tiles and not just one tile with stains of wood polish or sand.
I am totally disappointed and have to resort to this help. Can anybody tell if there was a mistake while cleaning as the supervisor added acid(locally avaiable in hardware shops in Bangalore)and used a soft sponge or scrub to do the washing for me before i entered in.

Dont know why? please help urgently. I even registered a complaint to Johnson

sorry for the delay in response.

Looks like the acid has done some damage to your tiles. did you get any feedback from Johnson? What is the present situation? Please let us know.
