Williams wanted a chair for his home. Primarily for visitors to squat when the come to his place. Now being in a temporary accommodation, Williams was not sure what kind of chair to buy. So after weeks of postponement, we finally decided to indulge in some shopping.
First we visited a store on Cathedral road near the famous chat shop called “Gangotri”. The shop was on the main road and had an impressive line up of wooden articles. Unfortunately he did not have a decent chair. He showed us a two piece “garden chair” (sorry no pictures) which cost approximately 1800 rupees. The piece was so flimsy that it looked like it would fall apart any moment. Plus it was too low, as in had a fairly low ground clearance. The second piece we saw was more fashionable and less practical. A kind of wooden folding chair. This was quoted at 2000 rupees and we knew we had to move on.
We wanted to head over to Royapettai next as it was the furniture centre of the city. We visited a store on Peter’s road which had a good and crowded store. The chairs over there were different. We could see quality in them but the prices were too high.
Our next stop was another small store on Royapeth high road. This store had a steel chair - powder coated for around 600 rupees (without arm rest) and 800 rupees(with arm rest). These are the kind of chairs which you would see in railway booking counters and banks.
Just across this store was a shop which dealt with moulded plastic furniture. He had two (three actually) models of chairs. One was from Nilkamal and the other one was from Supreme. The former cost 420 rupees and the later cost 400.
There was a third model (not in store at that moment) which was having ventilation holes on the sitting area. The cost for this was around 450 rupees and we decided to get this one instead as it would have more ventilation for the person sitting on it in an otherwise hot city - CHENNAI!
Having made the purchase we came home and were sure that it was value for money than the wooden and steel chairs.

As we start to encourage asking questions on the forum, we also wanted to tell you that during registration you would have to enter a valid and working email address. Please give an email address which you use frequently. At the time of registration, the system would send you a mail with a link. Only after you click the link would your registration process be completed.
This system has been put in place so that in future you could recover lost/forgotten passwords. The email would also be a good communication point for messages from fellow members.
We wanted to add a couple of accessories which would go into your mini bar. To start with we talk about the “Jigger”.

Simply put, Jigger is a measuring device which is used to pour alcohol or other liquids in proper proportion while mixing cocktail drinks. The image shown above is what is very common. It has two parts. The one at the bottom is used to dispense 30ml or 3cl of liquid (also known as “small”) and the one on top is used to dispense 60ml or 6cl of liquid (also known as “large”).
Generally cocktails consist of one or two alcoholic beverages with fruit juices, spices, fruit bits, ice and flavouring syrups. You can check the internet for some amazing recipes for cocktails.
Some variants of a Jigger are shown below:

The next accessory is somewhat too professional in our opinion. But it can come in very handy and avoid all the mess. We are talking about the “pourer”.

These devices plug into the bottle’s mouth and provide an easy way to pour the liquid into the jigger or directly into glass. They usually fit every bottle and have a rubberised “one size fits all” kind of a design.
They can be reused for many bottles. Just make sure you wash them before plugging it into another bottle.
The last item which we would discuss in this article is the ice-crusher. With the exception of “one the rock” drinks, ice cubes are not a favorite for most drinks including cocktails. Most people do not like to see ice cubes floating in the drink. So we can use the ice crushed, reduce the surface area of the cube and use it in cocktail mixers. Some drinks like Irish Cream are actually served on crushed ice. So it is a good option to have one too.

We hope that we were able to give you some good tips to set up your mini bar.
Moulded furniture was a new concept in India when it was introduced in the mid nineties. One of the companies who pioneered the products was Nilkamal. Even today they are focusing on delivering quality products and their range is really impressive. There have been lot of clones in the moulded furniture market. We have seen that these clones are not manufactured with high quality plastics and tend to break or warp after some time.
Moulded furniture are really cost effective when compared to wood or steel. They are light in weight and the weight baring capacity is very good compared to the mass of the product. They are easy to maintain and do not exhibit problems such as rusting and also immune to termites and the like. This is probably one of the biggest advantages for the moulded furniture.
They also have some negatives. Aesthetically they are low on score. Certain furniture types are not easy to be implemented on the moulded platform. But all said and done, they really offer a lot to the consumers. Having given this brief introduction let us look at the company profile of Nilkamal.
