For the modern cook who follows recipes from cookbooks, internet and the like, a kitchen scale is definitely a great device.

Measuring accurate quantities of ingredients is easier and the dishes would probably turn out as intended by the author of the recipe! A kitchen scale is not suitable for weighing heavy items, so we advise you to exercise caution. Typically the scales can weigh from about 10 grams to 1000 grams max with resolution of 10 grams. Both analog and digital scales are available in the market. The accuracy of these scales would depend on the brand and the price. A variation of about 5 to 10 percent can be expected in the fast moving models.

Some scales could give you a zero correction facility where you would first cancel the weight of the container and then effectively only weigh the cooking ingredient.

Scales in India are available in leading stores and also from Internet. We have seen prices start from 400 rupees to about 3000 rupees.
