(Actually there is a lot of difference in every part of the house right from construction material.) I agree with the article's stand point with reference to Indian homes. However the same might not be applicable to other countries/sociaeties as can be gathered form Kathy's comments. The main reason for this being, in foreign countries, people typically use closed enclosures like bath tubs or maybe say jacuzzi's. I have seen (picture's of. I have never been abroad :D ) carpets in bathrooms abroad. Something you will never see in India. (Atleast in the majority of the cases.) So it's not easy to draw parallels.
