Kitchen Appliances - Then
August 19th, 2007
We will start blogging on kitchen appliances as it would appeal to our home-making users more!
On a serious note, there are a plethora of gadgets to make your cooking experiences pleasant. Unlike our European counterparts, Indian homemakers’ focus on utility rather than comfort. Although this was OK ten years ago, it is certainly not in agreement with modern times where
(a) Home spaces are at a premium
(b) Home makers are already stressed due to their professional lives and do not want to end up their evenings in a complicated kitchen.
Very broadly listing out the traditional kitchen would have
- A cooking stove with an LPG cylinder
- An exhaust fan to let the fumes out
- A mixie (sometimes called mixer) with two or more jars and some blade attachments
- A wet grinder (more common in southern part of India)
- A microwave oven - something which is still a rare thing to find in most kitchens
